I am looking at 3 drumsets in Musicians Friend (The Tama Rockstar, The Pearl Export, and the Yamaha Stage Custom-all five piece sets) and I know I want one of these. Which would you suggest for someone who is starting out on set, and wants to play in a rock band? (Collective Soul, Presidents, Ramones, etc) I want the one that is the most durable, the easiest to transport, and has the best overall sound right out of the box. Thanks!

It's very hard to tell someone what type of Drums to get, You should go take a closer look at what you are going to buy, Go to a music story close to you and look, you don't have to buy from them... But I will tell you that I just bought the Tama Rockstar.. Why? becouse the now Tama Rockstar come with the Die cast mounting.. + I have alwas had a thing with TAMA.... GOOD LUCK...... Let us know what you GET!!!!!

I don't know what the market prices are like where you live, but in CT the best values do NOT include Yamaha. Here the Pearl Export Select and Tama RockStar are great...Premier seems good too. Yamaha is TOO expensive. Good Luck!

I have bought a set of Tama Rockstars and they are excellent. I started out with a set of Rogers,(made by Premier) and they pale in comparison to my Tama's.

Yes they would pale into comparison because they are NOT rogers but Premier. Rogers were built in the States by Rogers, anything else was just taking advantage a very fine old American drum Co.

I am going to suggest buying the Tama Rockstar. Not only has it received rave reviews from Modern Drummer, but I started out on a Tama Rock Star (because of Randy Castillo) and will always swear by the outstanding quality of TAMA. I am now playing a TAMA Starclassic Performer.

Without any doubt the Tama rockstar; Extremely high standard in sound and hardware!
