I haven't played a lot of drums, hand drums that is, but I do have a pair that I have messed around with somewhat. If I can find my book on it I will give you some more info. For now, there are 3 or 4 basic strikes. Work with these and when I find other info. I'll tell you the order. 1: Hit the small drum, on your left side, with your thumb and hold it there. This is not supposed to be loud but it is done to increase the tension and thus the pitch of the drum. You have to push hard. This happens on the 8 count of the basic 8 count beat, 2 measures. 2: Use your thimb to hit HARD. It is kind of a hard flick and should reverberate quite a bit. 3: Hit the head in the middle with relaxed fingers for kind of a dead sound. 4: IMPORTANT: Slap the rim of the head for a rim shot. This should ring like hell. Ther is also an intermediate hit btwn the rim shot and the center hit. Also work on paradiddles. ie: RLRRLRLLRLRRLRLL When you put the double right or left in there it allows the other hand a little more height for more power. Best of luck, B.

Thank you for info. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I will practice what you wrote. I've been playing alot just becoming familiar with the different sounds I can generate based on the amount of force and position of hands. Take care.
