I've tried most every cymbal cleaner that has ever been sold in a music store , and have decided that they do not work and I would not waste my money on them. The absolute best cleaner that I have ever found is TWINKLE COPPER CLEANER ! I have cymbals that I have been using regularly for almost 40 years several of them have been cleaned yearly for that long. They look like new and sound great! I have quite a cymbal collection and they all look great.
Will not take the logo off of new Zildjians.
Do not use on older Piaste 2002s because it will take the logo off( lesson learned).Rinse with hot water , put some on the sponge (doesn't take alot)
wipe in circles (always) use a little extra force on spots. Rinse with hot water and dry. If the cymbal is extra dirty repeat the above steps.
You can buy it on line. I bought a case (should have enough for this lifetime)!
If you have painted or lacquered finished cymbals (old Piaste for instance) , use 409 cleaner and nothing stronger (you could remove the logo or stain the cymbal). Good luck!

I was looking at my post and the use of Twinkle on the cymbal reads a little confusing.
When I say wipe in circles , I mean with the grooves. Always clean with the groove pattern. Twinkle has a little bit of grit to it but, as I said before I've cleaned some of mt cymbals 30 or more times and they still look and sound new. People who don't know me quite often remark on my new cymbals. Little do they know that some of my "new" cymbals are older than the person giving the compliment!
If you have already lost the logo on your laquered cymbal then , feel free to use Twinkle. The problem with older composite cymbals like 2002s is that once the lacquer finish is gone they will tarnish just setiing in the open air. This is mainly why you don't want to use an abrasive cleaner that will take off the logo and laquer! I have 2002s from the seventies that I have cleaned with 409 at least once a year and they still look almost new , logo and all!
Another tip : The best chrome cleaner is Chrome and metal cleaner in the auto products isle at Walmart. This is in a metal canister. It's cotton batting with a petroleum product that dries to a haze. Great for chrome HORRIBLE FOR CYMBALS! Music stores sell this same product except it's labeled for cleaning cymbals. It's more expensive at a music store and NO F!!!ing way would I use it on my cymbals. But, once again , It is wonderful for chrome. Remember , If you have surface rust, steel wool the part first and then protect it with chrome cleaner.

Hey Jim,
Thank's for the tip on Twinkle!I have always used Zims cymbal cleaner which I thought was the best. It's discontinued but you can still get it from Sam Ash. But I think I will give Twinkle a try!
Thank's Again Jim,
Tim

Hey Man,
I was just picking at you ! Never heard of Mothers polish but I would sure like to try it! But I got to say again that Zims is the best and easiest polish I have ever used! Just spray it on wipe them with a cloth or paper towels then rinse with cold or hot water and thats it! What works for some people may not work for others and we both can be right in what we like!
Thank's Man,
Tim
