I've been wanting to go with a two case setup, a case for my drums and a case for everything else. Iwant the cases with big casters(wheels) on them...those are such a blessing.

Well Tux bags are a great thing if you're playing clubs and casuals, as they pack up very nice. However if you are doing any travelling outside of that, I would definitely recommend the Enduro line. Better yet, get both and you can integrate them both together (Drum in bag, bag in Enduro case) for the ultimate protection.

Exports or not, When he upgrades to a better set he'll have a good set of cases. Besides, any drum deserves great protection during transport IMHO. As to the quality of Exports, there have been gigs I was doing in Asia where a set of Exports would have been welcomed!! I did a 3 month engagement on an old set of Pearl Forums. The lug casings were breaking off every week, and by the time the gig was over, I had cannabalized one of the toms completely for lug casings! Seriously, taking great care of one's gear will A.- keep the price of resale higher and B.- train you to respect a better kit down the line. I may seem obsessive, but I have to be, as it's in my work ethic to deliver the goods 100% consistently.

Agreed Bill Ray on the taken care of things, I have a set of Pearl Session cherry sunburst that I am afraid to take out of the house, I usually play a set of Export Selects when I play out. MsDos

If you need the plastic cases to haul your drums in an open vehicle, go for the Humes & Berg w/out foam. Otherwise buy a set of anvil fiber cases w/out foam (foam lined cases are usually $10 more per case). In either case (no pun intended) go to Home Depot and buy 1/4' carpet padding ($10 will buy enough to line ALL of your cases). I used 3M brand spray adhesive to line my cases with the carpet padding. This is what I use to carry my Yamaha RC drums around. Gelb Music in Redwood City gives very good deals on drum equipment
