Drummers seeks new kit

What should i get?

I would like to know to but, I am looking for an 8 or 9-Piece kit.

Can you narrow it down a bit? How much do you want to spend, is there any make you have a preference for, what type of music do you play, do you want a standard or a fusion kit, how many toms, metal or wooden snare... ?

Steven, My answer to that question, since I wanted to know too:

1. Pearl 2. Rock 3. Standard 4. 7 Toms(after Double Bass n' Snare) 5. Wooden 8. $4000+ 9. Zildian, Sabian or Paiste 10. Double-bass 11. Rack-mount(not mounted on Bass Drum)

7 toms? uhm... yeah ... that's an awful lot. are you planning on taking this kit out anywhere? because it will not fit just anywhere. as for cymbals, its your call. the original a zildjian series cymbals are hard to go wrong with. paiste's 2002 and signature lines have a nice bright shimmer to them, but i think the a zildjians are a better choice over all. its hard to explain why, but the first band practice with an a and you'll know what i mean. there are some rahter nice ks as well, but they're, in general, a bit dark for my liking. as for sabian, my bass player said it best at the local music store: 'uhm, don't hit those ones please' a 10 piece kit is seriously huge though. i don't see where i would use that many pieces in a song... *maybe* if i were to tune them to a scale and write a melodic solo that uses a lot of notes, but that's what my guitar is for. i would say if you're going to spend that much money, downsize by a lot and go for quality. try out as many top of the line type kits as you can. get the real deal from whichever cymbal company you pick. get the strongest rack and fill it out with dw or equally amazing (if such action exists) tops. you will enjoy it much more i think.

While Robert Sweet(STRYPER)(he is a Christian) is my idol, I couldn't see myself having his setup(21 drums, 21 cymbals, 1 gong)

Also, Plastic or wood tips on the sticks.

why don't you go to a store and listen to drums, pick one you like, you're the one who has to play it.
