I just would like to introduce myself--
my name is Mike Fillion and I live in Orlando,Fl.
I have been a professional drummer for 43 years and have performed with over 50 major stars, all over the world, covering 46 states, 22 countries and 1 million miles.
I started my business the"Drum Doctor" in 1966--a drum repair and custom building service.
A lot of my business is with the school system in Florida, both public & private.
I have had training at 2 drum factories and am a 3rd generation woodworker.

If there is anything that I can help any drummer with, please feel free to contact me.

Best wishes.

Hello Mike and welcome to the forum I hope you will like it here.

Wow... .43 years of performing and all those major stars ... I bet you have some pretty nice memories of that.

If it's not too much off-topic and you are so kind as to respond, I wouldn't mind hearing one or some of them

Copper,

Some of the artists were:
Roy Clark--Barbara Mandrell--Red Skelton-John Byner--Drifters--Coasters--Platters--Grass Roots--Turtles--Joey Dee & the Starlighters--Bill Haley's Comets--Delta Burke--(Miss Florida)--Cheryll Prewit (Miss America)--Gov.Bob Graham (Florida) and many more.

I was on this website and thought that I saw a place for experts, but I am not seeing anything like that.
If you ever decide to start something like that, please let me know.
Be glad to share what I know.
Thanks.

Mike

Copper,

Why would you say that your site doesn't interest me?

YOu site DOES interest me.

It is well done and I will be visiting it often.

Maybe I can help some drummers out and hopefully I will learn some new things also.

Hope you have a great day.

Mike

Hey Mike,

Back in 1970 I played with a Band called The SWINGIN MEDALLIONS who had a hit record back 1966 called DOUBLE SHOT OF MY BABY'S LOVE! And I remember playing a show with the DRIFTERS!It seems to me before I had joined the band that they also played a show with the PLATTERS and the COASTERS! Don't know if you were with the DRIFTERS then or not when I was playing but it's good to know anyway!!!

Thank's

Tim

Hey Mike,

These days I have my own lawncare business and play on the weekends when we can.I was thinking today of some more bands we played with like Martha and the Vandellas, Wayne Cockran and the CC Riders,
Dennis Yost and the Classic 4,Lobo,The Tams,Gary Puckett and the Union Gap,Bill Deal and the Rondells,Brian Hyland and it seems like we played with The Fantastic Shakers! I'm sure I have some more war stories but I will stop here for now! What about you, what are you doing these days?

Thank's

Tim

I played with a lot of those same groups.
These days I work with a 4 piece group and we back up 2 Elvis tribute artists
We also are hired to back up other tribute artists, such as:
Roy Orbison-Neil Diamond-Rick Nelson-
Tom Jones-Patsy Cline-Connie Francis and others.

We just played the Community theatres in Venice & New Port Richie--"Old Town" in Kissimmee--Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona and Cypress Gardens.

I still do drum repair & custom building and teach a few lessons.

Hey Mike,

Pull up YOU TUBE and search for The Swingin Medallions and Bruce Springsteen singing Double Shot Of My Baby's Love. Grainger Hines who is a friend of mine and one of the original members of the Medallions put this thing together.Grainger lives in LA and is an actor, director and writer. And the way he pulled it off was by being good friends with Springsteen's manager. This took place in Greenville SC at the BILO CENTER only 50 miles from my house last Wednesday night! Check it out a see what you think. If you have a problem finding it then go to the Swingin Medallions website and click on THE BOSS under current news.

Thank's

Tim
