Am a newbie and purchased a djembe about 8 months ago. Recently noticed small, flat, light brown, ant-like bugs under the head. There are also small round bug holes in the wood. I've cut the head off and would like to know is anyone has any knowlege of these bugs and any advise on how to get rid of them. Is washing w/soap & H2O enough? Help!

Termites, dude. Put it in a small room you don't live in & bug fog the area. Leave it in there for a whole day. You might also try asking at your local hardware store about termite killer shit. Couldn't hurt to check out some home owner newsgroups, too.

If the drum came with them, they could be infesting your home. If not, your HOME has termites.

Good luck with your 'cooties',
