Hello About 3 years ago, I started drum lessons. I took the lessons for about a year, but decided to stop so that I could focus on my piano. I packed up my drums, and put them in the garage....well, I just kept longing to for those drums, so I recently pulled them out of storage, and set them up again. Nice.

I know from my past experience that I have a tendency to be scattered as far as what I should be working on, and in what order. I have a lot of drum books, and tend to jump from on book to the next....never making much progress in a single book. I think I tend to jump around because none of them seem to be a 'program' for learning drums...rather they appear to focus on a particular aspect of drumming.

My guess is that I should pick maybe two or three resources and work from them....and work through them.

I was wondering if there is a more experienced drummer who might be willing to be my on-line mentor. I could provide a list of the books I have, and you could choose a couple I should work through (hopefully books you have too!). You could provide me periodic assignments, and I could report back on my progress, questions, etc.....maybe even send some sound files if we really get into it. I am really looking for guidance and direction....

Regards

Karen

I'll help. Let's see what books you have. Also, what type of music do you want to play/don't want to play? What gear have you got? It helps to know in designing lesson plans.

I'd be glad to help you too. Just send e-mails. I've been playing for ten years. I don't mean to be a mentor, but I think I can give you some good advices. Rowen.
