The 60's Japanese snare drum collection ow consists of 1 Blue sparkle Norma w/ Sling copy rims, Gretsch copy lugs and a new Slingerland copy throw off

1 Red Sparkle Norma with some bizarre rogers copy lugs and throwoff

1 Gold sparkle Zim-Gar w/ Slingerland copy lugs

1 Black Oyster Pearl Zim Gar with really odd lugs and a Sling Zoom-matic copy throw off on both sides

1 Apollo White Marine Pearl w/ Leedy copy lugs and throw off and Sling rims

1 Del Ray w/Gretsch copy lugs that I'm having recovered in a psychadelic 3d pink and blue swirl

several no name Jap copies t w/ Gretsch type lugs

Why am I collecting these? They're cheap. I already know they don't sound good as a rule. They are appealingly tacky, gaudy and askew. I'm the only one collecting them. Info is sketchy. they don't have to be mint to be collectable. Vintage drum geeks, nerds and collectors could care less about them. They are the cheap transistor radios and baseball trading cards of drums.

post the Unofficial Japanese Drum Virtual Museum.

I will pay between 25 and 100 dollars per drum depending on the condition and rarity. It must say made in Japan on the badge. I will buy parts. Looking for White hall Norma Decca Apollo Stewart Kent Majestic Revere Revelle

and any others you may know of Del Ray

Parumpapumpum is charitable organization I'm founding to give away drums to kids who can't afford them. If you want to donate a drum or parts, or sponsor a kid who needs a drum, let me know. I'm working on getting registered charity status or getting it through similar organizations. Most of the drums given away will be drums with uncollectable names or drums without badges made from parts. Also need lightweight snare stands, keys, instruction books, practice pads, sticks, bags and cases to go with these.

Just getting started on this, so stay tuned for more info.

thanks,

George, great idea. You can count on my help when we get down there! You might want to approach some wholesalers or Sunlite directly about donating some of those Sunlite piccolos. They sell in the catalogues for $50-55. There's one guy I think is making a living at them on ebay. Dealer cost is about 35 bucks and he sells them for $70-90 all the time. Anyway, you might be able to get a bunch of drummers to pitch in $35 a piece and buy a bulk of them. They are decent little snares.

Hey George,

This is a great idea! As soon as you have the details worked out let me know. I have a '65 ludwig 6 lug black lacquer snare that sounds good and is totally functional but is a little rough. This snare was given to me and I would be honored to pass along my good fortune to your cause.

George, Very noble of you. You're quite generous with your time & money. I'll be your eyes & ears on the lookout in Minneapolis/St.Paul.

Superb Idea George. Its a long way to ship a drum from the uk, but I'll apply the idea over here if that's ok with you. there are plenty of youth and child organisations in the north west of england that could use this, so I'll talk to some of my friends. I was envisaging no 'officiality' to this, you just gave me a good idea. If you want accreditation let me know.

Cheers

Stu.

The email has been substantial about this. I'm warmed by how many of you want to contribute and sponsor. Any kind of working drums, sets, cymbals, parts will be accepted for donation. Nobody has asked about the tax write off yet but I'm sure it will be of concern. I'll get this thing legitimate as soon as possible.

Any body out there had experience with organizing and registering a charity organization?
