I just picked up the drums about 3 months ago, and my heads have since began to need replacing. I'm having trouble tuning up my snare drum. I'm using a remo ambassador bottom with a fibyrskin3 top. It's a steel drum. My problem is matching the two up. I beat on the drum and get this really deep bass tone with a vibrating sound afterward like one of the heads is fairly loose, but the heads are already fairly tight. when i put my muffling ring on, it sounds like it's the bottom head that needs adjusting. I'll go ahead and tighten it up a little until i hear a cracking sound, which obviously means it's snug, and then hit it again, and it sounds like it's the top head that needs fixing, and then I'll repeat the tuning until i hear the cracking noise. my question is, how would i go about properly tuning my snare drum, or do my heads not work well together?

Well, it could be your springs on the bottom is on good. Im not sure what could be the problem. Try taping the springs on the bottom of the drum to the head and hit it.

'springs' = 'snares' thus 'snare drum'. Don't tape the snares to the head; big no-no. Learn how to tune the drum.
