Back on the throne after a 25 yr hiatus, I have just purchased a used set of Pearl 'Sessions' (or similar) 5-piece set from the mid 80's with all Zildjian cymbals - a great find for me.
Need help as follows: 1) What is the best way to clean the shells, hardware, and cymbals without damaging. Although in excellent 'tonal' condition, the kit has not been 'cleaned-up' for some time - bar grime. 2) Is anyone familiar with the Amir cymbal line from Zildjian? (2) crash symbols (reg. and thin) have this notation under the name, while the 20' rock/ride and 14' hats do not. 3) Any suggestions for replacement heads? Interest in both rock/jazz. Currently using beat-up REMO Ambassador's. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your comments. Look forward to communicating again once I've got my 'groove' back.

chrome polish, any cymbal cleaner (zildjian cymbal paste for the initial cleaning), not sure about the wrap coverring the shells. soap and water?
yeah they are an entry level line that would come in pre packaged sets for beginners. their chinas always sounded really nice. if they sound good then who cares. i'm using a 20-year old stage custom series from yamaha that was the entry level kit back then. now they sound (with the right heads) like a set of recording customs.
try remo coated ambassadors on the tops and clear ambassadors on the bottom. nice resonance, good dynamic range.
drum on bruddah,
