First a lot of practice.......

I twiddle sticks in two ways, the first is spun around each finger moving up your hand then back to the bottom. The second is the easiest. Hold the stick between your Victory fingers 'V' then with a resonable quick wrist action rotate the stick. This is good for those showy quick twiddles as the stick will walk and eventually hit the deck.

Hope that helps and have fun.

Thanks a lot, DC! I'm off for practising now..

Hm... Maybe you know another secret too.. I don't know if there's any Keith Moon fans reading this, but does anyone know how he does it, when he - at some break in a song - hits (some special part of) the (snare or floor tom) drum, making the stick bounce up in the air. And then of course catching it right before coming back into the song, and enjoying everyone's full amazed attention.. I'll gladly practice for years but the problem is I just don't know how to make the stick bounce straight up in the air instead of other directions..

It's always good to know some tricks to keep the attention away from your sloppy drumming..

Maybe you should put your time and energy into improving your sloppy drumming - rather than waisting it on 'all show, no go' antics.

Just a thought. To each his own. (I do feel visuals have their place, but not in place of good musicianship.)

Either way - good luck

This is a matter of practice. Start by holding the tip end of the stick in your hand, than practice bouncing the butt end of the stick off the head. The angle of the drum as well as the angle of the stick will determine the path it travels! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND WEARING SAFETY GLASSES IF YOU DECIDE TO TRY THIS STUNT!!!. The first time I tried it (and many more therafter) the stick glazed the side of my head as it whizzed by! I quickly abandoned it, Also, you need a fairly high practice area or the stick hits the ceiling. Good Luck

Yes, of course, that's very true.. Showing off is just part of the fun, and of course to do it with not too much seriousness..

One more point I'd like to bring up and that is if you are going to try to hit the stick on the snare to have it fly in the air you'd better buy extra heads 'cause you'll dent the shit out of it if you hit it wrong and with alot of power.

I agree with the other points made. Angle will definately have all to do with how you bring the stick down. And the best one is to really work on good playing the flash will come later.
