Sorry if this seems a little bit inane but how often does everyone change toms head's. I am just changing mine now cos they are barely playable and have only had them on about 3 weeks?????

barely playable in three weeks? do they just need tuned? if you've worn them out in such a short time, then you may be using heads unsuited to your situation. if you're playing death metal on clear single ply heads, they will die very quickly. try a heavier weight head if this is the case.

Either you hit too hard (possibly, but you'd need to hit REALLY hard to damage a head so badly so quickly) or the toms are positioned wrong. This is most likely.....try putting them shallower, so the stick, when you hit the drum in the middle, is about an inch above the rim. Basically, put them as shallow as you can without hitting the rim every time. Hitting the head at an angle _will_ dent it.

there we have it. The toms were at about a 50/60 degree angle. (Hey I am new to this and didn't know). New skins and different angle and 1 practice later not a mark on them. Fantastic
Thanks very much
