Hi

I just got my Pearl Export Select. I really like it, no complaints from the neighbors yet, but whenever I hit the snare, the toms are vibrating and it gives too much of a surrounding and overwhelming sound. Also, when I tried recording myself (I don't have a full miking kit or a multitrack in the same room, but the microphone itself is very good, so is the hifi) The snare sounded like I kept dropping bricks on it, if you see what I mean. Very heavy, dull, etc. I don't think it's the mike, which was about 4 ft overhead. I could hear it myself.

About the toms: the two rack toms sound the snares like mad. I just re-tuned them today, no difference, but I like the notes they are tuned to and don't want to change them if there is another way.

Are there any solutions sans buying anything?

Thanks

TJ

PS I tried adjusting the snares, nohap. and I've got ZerOrings around the toms and snare. I'm not so concerned about the fact that the bass sounds the snare, just about the toms because it's really annoying.

PPS Could it have anything to do with that I'm playing in the garage?
