Hi there!

This is my first post, exciting huh? I have a 14' Zildjan crash and now I want another one. It just doesn't feel sufficient with just one crash and one ride. Is there a preferred size of the other (I want it to be bigger) crash or does any size bigger than 14' work? Also should I try to buy a crash of the same brand or doesn't that matter at all. Please not responses like 'but what you think sound good'

Thanks

Fredrik, Welcome to the jungle! I love Zildjian, and think you should consider a 18 or 20' crash/ride or 18' medium crash. I consider myself kind of a minimalist with cymbals; my set-up (before the change) was 12' splash, 16' medium thin crash, 18' crash/ride, and an 18' high china boy. You can make about a million sounds with that set. Sabian has cymbals I'd look at, and other companies offer other choices.

When you consider all the pros with cymbal stacks, using 8 or 10 cymbals; yes I think I was kind of tight!

I like a lot of crashes because each has its own sound. I use sabain. As far as crashes go i have a 14' thin, 16' thin, 16' rock, 18' rock, and a 20' crash/ride, then i have 10' and 12' spashes, a 18' china, and a 10' china splash. Its really all in what kind of music you play and what kind of sound you go for. The 14' is good for accents but if ya really want a big crash sound i suggest 18', you also have to look at the thickness that has a lot to do with the sound as well. In my opinion the more cymbals you have the more possibilities. Well i hope im at least helpfull.
