Hi, I am considering the purchase of a new Yamaha DTXPRESS electronic kit with 9 pads. I intend to use the kit mainly for practice but might use it in live gigs if the need arises. It seems to be one of the lower priced kits around, but when I compare the features it seems to stack up pretty well against some of the more expensive kits.

Has anyone any experience or opinion of these kits? Would I be better buying a separate module (e.g.. Alesis DM5) and/or different pads/triggers? It certainly sounds OK to play.

Thanks, Owen

Yeah i played on one. It SOUNDED good, but the thing it lacked (in my opinoin) was the feel. I didnt like it, it did lack some options on the module itself as well. I would reccomd probably saving up the extra grand and goin for the next step up. Its worth it.
